At 1824 hours last night, Ulster Hose was dispatched for a reported structure fire with heavy smoke at 1808 Ulster Ave, the Hudson Valley 9W Motel. Engine 3 was returning from a previous call and was in the area. They arrived first with smoke showing and Car 1 transmitted a second alarm. Engine 2 arrived and secured a water source and assisted Engine 3 with fire suppression and opening up the fire room. Truck 1 and Engine 4 secured the adjacent apartments and checked for extension. The fire was contained to the fire apartment with the adjacent apartments sustaining minor smoke and water damage. Ulster Hose was assisted at the scene by Glasco, Kingston Fire, MLSS, Ulster PD, the Ulster County Sheriffs Office, NYSP, and the Ulster County Fire Investigators. Ruby, Port Ewen, and Centerville Cedar Grove provided standby coverage.
