Small Fire in High Occupancy

Yesterday afternoon at 1422 hours, Ulster Hose was dispatched for an odor of smoke in an apartment at Ulster Gardens. While enroute, UC 911 updated incoming units of a water flow alarm activation. Car 2, 4 and Engine 4 arrived and made entry into the building and found a sprinkler activation in a single apartment as a result of a small kitchen fire. A second alarm was transmitted, bringing the City of Kingston FAST Team and Glasco to the scene. Truck 1 arrived, checking the adjacent apartments and the floor below. Overhaul and salvage operations began to contain the water damage to only a few apartments. Ulster Hose was assisted at the scene by Mobile Life, the fire investigation team, Ulster PD, and the town building dept. Ruby, Port Ewen, and Centerville Cedargrove provided standby coverage.
